Cottage Living Magazine Names North Charleston's Noisette Community as One of the Nation's Top 10 Neighborhoods
National Publication praises redevelopment efforts throughout the 3,000-acre master planned area, which is bringing pedestrian-friendly streets, sustainable building practices and new parks to the City of North Charleston
Ceremonies for the fourth graduating class of the Lowcountry Contractors HUB Academy will be held on Tuesday, May 20, at 6 PM, 10 Storehouse Row, Navy Yard at Noisette. The May graduating class of the Lowcountry HUB Academy includes 17 students from throughout the Charleston metro area, who represent minority business people from the regional building industry. Carolyn T. Milliron, of Carolinas AGC in Charlotte, North Carolina, will be the keynote speaker.
As April marked Earth Day, North Charleston Girl Scout Troop # 322 participated in a series of tours and educational programs in the Noisette Community, designed to teach future leaders about environmental conservation and responsibility to future generations.
Groundbreaking set for “Carol’s Home” Extreme Home Makeover
March 28, 2008 – It’s all systems go for the “Carol’s Home” extreme home makeover project happening in Dorchester county. “Carol’s Home” is the brain child of the Charleston Trident Home Builders Association, which heard about Carol being attacked by a stranger and decided to help by building her a brand new, handicap-accessible home.
Noisette Co Honored for Navy Yard Building Restoration
On March 27, 2008 in Greenville, S.C., The Noisette Company of North Charleston will be presented with a Preservation Honor Award recognizing the company for its successful and exemplary historic preservation project in South Carolina. The Palmetto Trust for Historic Preservation will hand out this and several more 2008 Historic Preservation Awards at an afternoon ceremony on the first of the two-day Landmark and Preservation Conference in Greenville.
Construction is underway on Hunley Waters, a green built, private residential community bordering the Navy Yard at Noisette. Featuring 36 single family homes on 17 acres, Hunley Waters will complete its first home this April. Based on the Noisette master plan’s vision of a sustainable community in the historic core of North Charleston, the new neighborhood joins Mixson Avenue and Oak Terrace Preserve as an infill development dedicated to green building principles.
HUB Academy Begins New Classes at Lowcountry Graduate Center
North Charleston, SC (September 10, 2007) – The Contractor Business Academy, part of an educational program to assist Historically Underutilized Businesses in the building industry, will begin Fall 2007 classes on Tuesday, September 11th. Classes will be held at the Lowcountry Graduate Center, located at 5300 International Boulevard, Building B, Suite 100, in North Charleston, from 6 to 9 PM, each Tuesday, for 14 consecutive weeks.

Locally Produced Film Pumpkin Brown Debuts at Navy Yard May 18th
When audiences screen the sneak preview of the Song of Pumpkin Brown on May 18, they will notice a distinct Lowcountry flavor. The independent film – written, directed and produced by Charleston-based filmmaker Brad Jayne – features a galaxy of South Carolina creative talent. Certainly, the film’s plot, about a 10-year-old African American boy who enters the legendary music program at Jenkins Orphanage after the death of his preacher father, reflects the storied history of that institution.
