During WWII, this building served as the sick officers quarters as part of a larger hospital facility.
Originally built in 1941 as part of the Naval Hospital Complex, this building had been boarded up since 1996 when the Naval Base shut down. Coleman Snow, a professional civil engineering consulting firm purchased the building in 2009 and Chastain Construction was contracted to restore this historic Naval Building to a state of the art office space for their headquarters and the hard work and planning has paid off. I had a chance to walk thru the building yesterday as the finishing touches are being completed and it is an impressive sight.
New landscaping, roof and paint was the majority of what was needed to bring the exterior back to its original form. The renovated foyer on the first floor is bright and welcoming with the original fireplace as the focal point.
This building is beginning a new life and has LEED Silver intent. The LEED green building certification program encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through a suite of rating systems that recognize projects that implement strategies for better environmental and health performance. It truly is a beautiful building and we thank and welcome Chastain and Coleman Snow for their dedication to green building.

Progress is happening right beside Riverfront Park and I can't wait to see the finished product. Mechanical systems upgrades are complete and drywall repairs are in progress for the headquarters of Live Oak Consultants. Live Oak is a full service civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering firm providing quality design services. They provide engineering, project management and planning which yield functional, cost-effective solutions to meet their client's current and future facility needs.
Historic Residence Under Contract
Quarters 759 located in the Historic Naval Hospital District is now under contract with an expected closing date within 30 days. It was built in 1942 and served as medical officers housing for the majority of its time. It will find new life with a new owner as they make plans to return this building back to its original form.
