What They Do

Companies Any Planet Would Love

Assembled by the Noisette redevelopment team, the Urban Alliance is a group of leading manufacturers who are gearing their products and operations toward sustainable principles – a who’s who of the world’s sustainability champions.

These innovative companies produce high quality building materials, furnishings and appliances that lead their industry segments in efficiency, human-friendly design and planet-pleasing performance. The same goes for their business operations. Their facilities are becoming environmentally responsible networks geared for recycling, resource conservation and low-impact operation, as well as community support and employee well-being.

Alliance companies are on board to help create the nation’s most ambitious sustainable redevelopment effort. It’s the first time a group of private companies has entered into a revitalization partnership with an entire community.

Making Sustainable Attainable

Sustainability means rebuilding with products that are durable, healthy, efficient and comfortable. It’s the art of creating the good life in ways that let future generations do the same. And it’s working toward the triple bottom line of people-planet-prosperity: doing what’s socially just, environmentally sound and economically practical.

Noisette Urban Alliance members help make sustainable building more understandable and affordable for everyone in the community. In turn, our community offers them opportunities to evaluate sustainable innovations in the real-world, and learn directly from the people they’re in business to serve.

The Sustainability Gap

Not only does the Urban Alliance help support the Noisette community, they address one of the most challenging roadblocks to sustainability – the gap between product development and the people who use those products. Many sustainable products never reach builders and homeowners because someone along the supply-chain feels there’s no demand for them. And demand is slow to grow because people are never exposed to the innovative possibilities.

The Alliance leap-frogs this gap to bring exciting new ideas directly to consumers. With representatives working in the community, they’re helping people learn about sustainability and its benefits – and they’re helping to give people access to the latest advances in sustainable products.

Education Alliance members help Noisette consumers grasp new ideas, new ways to assess long-term value of sustainable building products, and new opportunities to add beauty and comfort to every building project.

Promotions Although many sustainable products cost no more than lesser designs, Alliance companies are committed to bringing these products within even easier reach of Noisette residents and builders.

Research Noisette has become a “living laboratory” for sustainable products. That puts the community on the leading edge of rapidly evolving technologies and new concepts for better living. And it puts consumers in a lead role for improving product designs.

Installation Training Many building problems can be avoided through proper installation, and that means training. Alliance companies help teach consumers what performance standards to expect, and they offer professional seminars to help installers eliminate the sources of problems

The Studio, An Expo of Sustainable Ideas

Organizing all the benefits of the Noisette Urban Alliance is a completely new concept in producer-consumer interaction: the Studio. This interactive center brings homeowners and building professionals face-to-face with product manufacturers in an “electronic expo” of new ideas.

It offers a lively, informative way to learn about exciting new advances in appliances, furnishings and building components. And it serves as a community classroom where companies, contractors, craftsmen and consumers can work together to explore the evolving lessons of people-friendly, planet-friendly products.

See new products offering better efficiency, durability, comfort and environmental safety.

Explore new ideas in home or business organization, furnishings and management.

Experience the excitement of cutting-edge development in every area of construction and remodeling.

Train in proper installation/maintenance procedures that help assure better building outcomes.
